Deepika Kumari is Junior World Champion, India bags one gold, one silver two bronze medals

Deepika Kumari has become the first Indian archer to win back to back World Title when she won the junior women's individual recurve title beating Korean Kim Minjung 6-2 in the final at Legnica in Poland.

The 17-year-old won her first World title in 2009 at Ogden (US) when she lifted the cadet women's individual recurve crown.

The three-member Indian junior women's team of Deepika, Rimil Buriuly and Seema Verma, settled for bronze in the team event.

The Junior Men's recurve team, comprising Rajgovind Swansi, Somenath Mondal and Atanu Das won silver while the cadet recurve mixed team of Binod Swansi and Mainaw Narzary annxed a bronze medal as well.

Recurve Junior Women final

Gold medal match - Kim Minjung (Kor/1) v Deepika Kumari (Ind/3)

Deepika is the current cadet world champion and although she could still shoot as a cadet, she competed in juniors. She is also the individual and team Commonwealth Champion at the senior level!

The No. 1 seed Kim had already won two gold medals the previous day and was looking for a complete sweep. She took the first set, but Deepkia took the second, 2-2.

Kim shot a 9 and 10 and. a 3 in the third set! The door was open for Kumari who scored 7-9-9 to lead 4-2.

In the fourth set Kim could not do better than 9-9-8. Deepika shot 10-9-10 to win the match 6-2. Another title for Deepika Kumari from India! Jai Ho!
