Shri Arjun Munda, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs and President of Archery Association of India welcomed the decision of Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt.of India to restore the recognition of Archery Association of India.
Shri Arjun Munda said that ‘’it is a fantastic news and I am thankful to the Ministry for revoking the suspension of Archery Association of India imposed on 7th December, 2012” Terming the recognition of Archery Association of India as a "historic and Golden day", Shri Arjun Munda said it heralds the beginning of a new era for Indian Archery. It will be a great source of encouragement for Indian team to perform better at this crucial juncture when, they are preparing
to face the toughest challenge from the top Archers of the world in Tokyo-Olympics, President added.
While conveying his heartiest congratulation to all the Archers, Coaches and the entire Archery family, he stated that the recognition is the result of long struggle and court battles. The elections of the office bearers of Archery Association of India (AAI) was conducted on 18th January, 2020 at New Delhi by the Hon’ble Delhi High Court appointed Returning Officer (RO) Shri P.K.Tripathi by following the AAI Constitution, duly approved by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and democratic principles of the country, in a fair and transparent manner.
World Archery has lifted suspension of Archery Association of India conditionally. The conditionality imposed by the WA has been fulfilled by making amendment in the AAI Constitution in the General Council Meeting held on 22nd February, 2020 at New Delhi and the same has also been updated to them. We are constantly in touch with the World Archery and are confident that the Association will get full-fledged recognition, as and when normalcy returns.
The AAI is determined to take Archery in India to the new heights. AAI will work closely with MYAS for the benefit of sport of Archery and for the sportspersons to uphold the highest standard of probity and ethic in future.
